Oakland, California-based producer and musician Russell E.L. Butler is a Moog fanatic. In the first episode of Moog’s Sonic Origins, Russell talks the island of Bermuda, how it inspires his music, and how it brings it to the masses using their analog synths. Listen to more of Russell’s work at his Soundcloud page.

Here, Butler takes pause to reflect on ancestral inspirations, the interconnections of varied identity consciousnesses, and, ultimately, music as self-liberation.
For the filming of the first ‘Sonic Origins’, Russell incorporated four Mother-32’s to construct a hard-hitting modular session titled “Sirens From a Distance”. Listen to the full track here: https://soundcloud.com/moogmusicinc/r…
