China:
Eating mystery meat and skateboarding the Great Wall However, I never responded to the email. I thought it was
phony. Then my friend Rock N Roll Steve said that he was
supposed to go too. I rushed to respond and received an email
back that said they had already found a ramp builder. However,
they said they would pay all expenses for Heckler to bring a
team of skaters to China. I quickly accepted the offer.
The next thing that popped in my mind was the retarded mistake
the United Nations made. Remember? During a beef with notorious
gun slinger Sadam Hussein, the UN mistook the Chinese Embassy
for a chemical warfare factory and bombed the hell out of innocent
people. read on>>
Clarke
Kent Hurlbut
Moving
to Tahoe a couple seasons ago, myself along with veteran photographers
Ruben Sanchez and Chris Carnel, immediately took notice of this
modern day snow-superhero. This past season we nominated him
the best unknown ruler around. With constant dedication to progression
he keeps getting better, which is hard to believe if you witness
his already finely tuned skills. Soft spoken and humble in his
nature Clarke is always willing to throw down displays of unbelievable
skill. read on>>

Make
a Wish
What
does this have to do with skateboarding? Easy, Damian Hebert
over at South Shore Distribution has taken it upon himself to
raise some cash for this worthy organization by throwing the
best demo of the year. The biggest surprise of all is that the
otherwise back-stabbing, selfish, and egotistical industry of
skateboarding mellowed out a bit and sent their best to help
Damien out (hence the best demo of the year). read

Perspectives
on Professionalism
So you wanna be a pro snowboarder? Doesnt it just sound
so fun. All the travelling to exotic places. Riding nothing
but three feet of powder on crystal clear days. Going to parties
in New York, LA and Paris that your sponsor throws. No boss
on your ass for weekly reports. Driving a new Ford Expedition
while talking on your pre-paid cell phone. Never having to bug
your sponsors for gear cause boxes just show up to your
new house in Utah. Filming with all the top dawgs at the best
locales on the planet. Signing autographs at trade shows in
Japan. Being invited to the biggest contests around the globe.

Hot
Water Music Rocks Out
It is undeniable that the Gainesville, Florida band Hot Water
Music is carrying the torch for the new breed of hard-core.
You know, the kind of band that speaks more about the politics
of the heart and the soul than the politics of the White House.
Exceedingly melodic yet gruff, Hot Water Music commands a loyal
following among each of the punk rock subsects: dirty punk rockers,
baggy-pants, hard-core kids, tattooed tough guys, snott white-socked
emo kids, and normal everyday college kids who used to be dirty
punk rockers. read on>>
Kind
Of Like Spitting
Everything good in my life has come from being involved
with people who play music and my love for it. Its helped
me get through a lot of my own personal issues that if I didnt
have music... Fuck, Id probably be dead.
Bens songs arent exactly warm and fuzzy but rather
bring light to the darker side of life. read

Whippersnappers
The
five piece Georgia punk outfit Whippersnapper has returned with
their second effort The Long Walk. While the band hasnt
made a total break from the sound of American punk, The Long
Walk hints at a group set on growth and change, a combination
that can grow into one of the defining sounds of post millennium
punk. read on>>
Bongzilla
Hell bound and weed-bent from day one, Bongzilla has been on
a stoner rock mission to expose the hypocrisy and stupidity
that plagues Americas anti-marijuana stance. Their latest
release, Stash (Relapse Records), is every hessians
wet dream come true. Think back to the 70s when all you
needed was a beer, a few bong rips and the slowest, heaviest
riffs that Black Sabbath could produce to do you right. Keeping
the dream alive for those us of us who were too young around
the first time, read on>>
Soul
Brains, Bad Brains, Human Rights, Dr. Know, Ric Ocasek &
Madonna
Over the last 20 years, the Bad Brains influence has spread
through hardcore, punk, rock, metal, hip-hop, reggae, techno
and just about any hybrid of these styles you could think of
like no other band before or since. Last year saw the release
of a tribute album, Never Give In, with a diverse
group of musicians paying tribute including Willhaven, Snapcase,
Sepultura and Moby. Their influence keeps going firsthand, as
well as second and third hand from bands like RHCP, Fugazi,
Rage Against the Machine. These bands have been influenced by
Bad Brains and continue to influence other generations.

Jonahs
Onelinedrawing
Proud to say, I was on-board from the start. I first met Jonah
Matranga when I was 15. It was 1995; I was in 9th grade. I had
zits, no pussy, zero ride. Jonah had a clear complexion, a wife,
a kid, and a major-label deal with Sony. We bullshitted at some
all-age shows. He wanted a web-site; I wanted to be web geek.
Soon the first official Far site was up and rolling
on the internets world wide waste of time. read

How many people out there in magazine land enjoy art as well
as skateboarding and stuff, you know stuff?! Skateboard, art,
stuff!? Exactly what is stuff? Well stuff can be all kinds of
stuff like birds and trees and oil and paint and sticks with
hair on them, boxes that make pictures, dirt that makes sculpture
and curbs and pools and stuff, thats just some of the
stuff. read on>>
