Get
Wired on Legal Crank and Create Cool Stuff
by Sonny Mayugba
This Months Featured Tweaker: Jeff Reed, Bean Zine
25 year-old Jeff Reed lives in Seattle. Everyday, Jeff likes
to get really wired on coffee, almost to the point where he
feels like hes on crank, but hes still in control.
He sent a small package of stuff to Heckler and I knew by the
spray paint on the cool looking hand-made package that something
good was in there. I was right because inside I found the debut
issue of Bean Zine. It is all about legal crank (coffee), and
other than a wonderful sense of design, it includes neat articles
like Categories of Coffee Drinkers, coffee bean reviews and
The Coffee Girlfriend Constitution. Jeffs inspiration
for making the zine was a rainy unemployed winter living in
a basement apartment in Portland, Oregon with his friends Dan
and Maurice. Being the creative tweaker that he is, Jeff also
shoots some pretty cool photos, as you can see here. But before
any creative outpouring can happen, Jeff Reed must say his morning
prayer to his (Coffee) Maker: I am humbled by your odoriferous
outpouring. You inspire me to rise from my bed and motivate
me through my morning rituals. I can now endure the hardships
of an otherwise banal and meaningless existence. If one cup
makes me feel good, two cups will make me feel better.
