The
Keir Dillon Survey
Although he can adjust to a laid back attitude when shooting
or filming in the backcountry, competition is his forte. For
example, gambling at casinos is, for most, a losing battle.
But Keir
won over $13,000 in two sittings at blackjack. Showing the other
side to his personality, soul, he spent the money on taking
himself and his girlfriend, Vidya, to Hawaii. read

Matt
Kass
What Matt
is really known for is his skills in the halfpipe. What impresses
me the most is how Matt is always pushing the session. Hes
always hiking 200 feet above the hit. Sometimes Ill become
inspired to do the same and Ill bomb down the pipe, then
sketch out in the flat-bottom and catapult myself into the air
completely out of control. read

Better
Red than Dead
Four years
ago, he had caught wind of the reclusive group of snowboard
gurus. The idea fascinated him, being far from the maddening
crowds of ultra-rich wannabes, free from the groms clinging
like sucker-fish. It would be a private oasis, a white, fluffy
heaven. A place to let your snowboarding fame die a warriors
death. Valhalla for the true shredders. read

Santa Cruz Photos
But Terry
has killer equipment, a passion for skateboarding and a passion
for shooting photos. So for now, he shoots stuff in his small
coastal hometown of Santa Cruz, California. Sometimes he writes
me desperate letters saying, Sonny, buy me a car. If I
had a car, I would shoot photos day and night. I dont
care. Oh, and send me film too. I have to quit my job putting
lamps together before I go postal. read

Where
the Fucca is Winnemucca?
On our next
trip back to Winnemucca the park was full of kids hanging out
(not skating) as cheerleaders from the local high school were
strutting their stuff across the parking lot from the park on
the spacious lawn. Andy made them ooh and ahh as he pulled a
crazy ass bowl to bowl transfer on his third try traveling at
mach 10. read

Hours with Alkaline Trio
The interview seemed normal up until the point Alkaline Trio
bassist Dan Adriano stormed into the tour bus like a paranoid
schizophrenic and proclaimed, I just got busted by the
door guy for weed. He patted me down. I was so high, I was like,
What are you doing? He kept trying to touch me,
but I just kept repeating, Im in the band, Im
in the band and made a quick dash for the tour bus. I
think hes following me. read

The
Explosion
The Explosion show no signs of slowing things down. They are
ambitiously trying to break through the barriers that have sprung
up around virtually every sound, be it hardcore, punk, emo or
indie rock and are willing to put themselves out there where
most bands fear to tread in hopes of both appealing to a wider
audience and opening the scene back up again. read

The
Hootenanny 2000
So we get there and what a sight it was, in the parking lot
there were some cool hot rods, hot chicks, and cold beer, a
combo I think I could/would never turn down! It kinda felt like
I was in American Graffiti, the kittens were hot with tight
pants, hair that you can tell took them hours to do, and bright
red lipstick. The cats with slicked back hair or cowboy hats,
haggard 501s, and fat-ass chops. read

Jets
to Brazil
"The creation of JTB helped to exonerate myself as
a writer, he says, to prove I could still write
and sing and just be an all-around stronger musician. Since
I started playing music, I never felt I had much choice in the
matter, I just have to do it.
I think anyone who plays music feels this way, that youll
do whatever it takes, jobwise or whatever, just so you get to
hold a guitar on a regular basis or express yourself in some
way. read on>>
Queens
of the Stone Age
Casually
pounding down some brews, Josh and Nick schooled me that being
in a good rock band is actually a relentless sacrifice for self
expression. Josh recounted some great times like playing with
Ween and Nick countered with, playing Spring Break with Godsmack
really sucked. read on>>
Samiam
Their music has always found a way to penetrate my shell and
make me feel the band as well as hear their music. Irresistible
lyrics and driving guitars made Samiam a hit with me. Six full-length
albums and many, many tours later I finally got a chance to
speak with this remarkably powerful and dedicated band. Samiam
has 12 years of amazing and unforgettable music behind them
theyve played with bands like Green Day, Bad Religion,
Millencolin, and the Mr. T Experience. read

Scanner
Rimbaud
is not a traditionalist by any means. I am not the type
of artist to release an album, promote the product and launch
a massive tour to help boost sales, he said in his proper
English accent. I just try to create things that I like
and take something that is very ordinary and try to do something
extraordinary with it. What he does is extraordinary,
not just with his Scanner albums, but with numerous other projects.
Just this year alone, he has signed to be an artist-in-residence
at the BBC, hosting a program on Radio 4. read

Secret
Hate
I like a lot of the old time R&B drummers, you know? Cause
they have this In the slot, soul ass groove thing
happening. And thats kinda what I strive for. I think
our sound right now, pulls from everywhere. We all listen to
so many types of music. Musical influences? Theres a lot.
But were into. Free Form Head Foam! Thats
something you may not have heard of yet, but were big on it!

Tinfed
How do you describe a band that has successfully opened for
both Alanis Morissette and The Deftones? How do you introduce
a band who is just as comfortable making their own music as
they are remixing others sounds? Name a band. Its
pretty likely a comparison has been drawn to Tinfed by someone
at one time or another. The most frequent? Nine Inch Nails,
Breakbeat Era, Filter and God Lives Underwater. The most outrageous?
Vertical Horizon and Creed. Even the band doesnt know
what to say. Although, they did take a liking to a recent description
of Tinfeds music as a mix between Joy Division and The
Rolling Stones. read on>>
