Five reasons we love the band Grandaddy

5. Drummer Aaron Burtch smokes a lot of cigarettes while he plays, even though it's illegal to smoke in a bar in California.

4. Bassist Kevin Garcia came over to skate our mini-ramp at Heckler and cut his arm open on some jagged metal. It was a pretty ugly looking gash wound, and he probably should have got some stitches. But, we just dug up some bandages and wrapped it with masking tape and he played the gig that night like a champ.

3. Front guy Jason Lytle's keyboard has a quote from Jeff Grosso on it.

2. Guitarist Jim Fairchild always sings every song at every gig, even though he doesn't have a microphone. You'd think that he actually likes the songs or something.

1. But, the number one reason we love Grandaddy is those melodies. We love their songs and the way Jason sings 'em. The fact that they're skaters is just a bonus.
