Slam
City Jam 2001
I arrived in Vancouver the day before the official kickoff
barbecue for Slam City Jam, one of the year’s biggest
skate contests. After getting a myriad of directions,
in as many directions, I finally found my way to the new
Hastings Skatepark, which a Canadian concrete wonder located
nearby the contest arena.
The
Capture
My good friend Sonny, who edits this magazine, occasionally
tells me with a smile on his face while shaking his head,
“Dude, photographers are just weird.” I kind
of agree. We aren’t the everyday mainstream worker
bees. How could anyone normal look at the world the way
a
photographer does?

Zac Damon, from Reno, currently lives in LA With a rock
resume that reads like an indie labels wet dream (Screeching
Weasel, Common Rider, Zoinks, and Crushstory) he is the
bands songwriter and founder, guitar player and lead singer.
Then there's Fuckin Joey from Rhode Island. A punkrock
and roll machine.
Mates
of State
I was busy rolling up a party favor and the birthday boy
Ron had disappeared across the Bay Bridge to pick up our
guest of honor, Mates of State. “That’s not
going to print, is it?”
Sick
of it all
departed Sacramento destined for my old stomping grounds
of Santa Cruz, CA. We were amped by two things 1.) The
chance to interview East coast legends Sick Of It All
and 2.) Their new CD “ Yours Truly.
