Japan
Our mission for the day was to locate several of the prime skatespots
which we knew existed within the city limits. Our primary obstacle
was the ominous language barrier that plagues Westerners in
Japan.
Life
is a Strawberry Bowl
Founded in 1858, The Strawberry Lodge is a beautiful cabin resort
with full rooms, a full restaurant, and more importantly, a
full bar. And on the property, sits a kidney shaped pool with
trannies that were not built for skating, but were built
for skating. This pool rules. Lucky for us, we got to have a
full-blown skate event here.
Casey
Lindstrom
Theres a lot of skateboarders in the world, but everytime
I pick up a skateboarding magazine, I see many of the same faces.
With Nor Cal style, Casey skates like a pitbull: tough with
finesse.
Night
Swimming
Who in the hell is gonna skate pools when its dumping
snow and 27 degrees outside? I asked my confidant Greg
Goulet. He assured me over a static induced cell phone, Chris,
youre gonna like this idea, its totally different
and I think its gonna work.

fun.Chances
are you will come up with something interesting.

DJ
Swamp
DJ Swamp chuckles a little when he tells me about how just six
years ago he was driving a street sweeper in Cleveland. Now,
His eyes light up and excitement takes over when he explains
how he snuck his way backstage, met Beck, gave him a demo and
a month later was playing at the Grammys. Beck took him on as
DJ for the Odelay tour, kept him on board doing keyboards for
the Mutations tour, and then had him DJing the Midnight Vultures
tour. Today, hes doing his own thing.
International
Noise Consciricy
Oh, the sweet sounds of revolution. Civil disobedience never
sounded so good in digital, at least, not here, not now, not
in America, not as we embark on another year deeper into the
new millennium. This is the introduction to an interview with
Dennis Lyxzen of (International) Noise Conspiracy, herein referred
to only by the initials I.N.C. - can you dig?
The
Line Deep in the heart of The Sierra Nevada's, sequestered in
the back of The Volcom RV, I find myself picking nose dirt goblins
and sniffing other peoples' farts as I drink Coors over a therapy
session with Big Bear OG's,
Propagandhi
Shiny dildos, pin-dick politicians, consumption whores, and
the lives lived in the margins. Our young minds sucked it all
in through busted speakers as Kerner fucked around on every
turn as we cruised in his Moms 88 Astro Van to the
next skate spot. We were young and wired on life and Propagandhis
Less Talk, More Rock was the kind of fast furious flag burning
melodic punk rock album that every skeptical young punk would
love.
TSOL
There is an enormous amount of history behind TSOL, much of
it chaotic. After playing a number of shows together in the
past couple of years, the original True Sounds of Liberty came
roaring back with a vengeance in 2001 with the release of their
ripping new album Disappear
New
Found Glory New Found Glory has definitely come a long way since their
early days of playing small shows to a hand full of kids in
their home state of Florida. They are still the same kids though
having just as much fun as ever. Only one small thing has changed
since then;
