Vert, pools, street, parks, contests...these are the habitats
of the well rounded. A second place at the Tampa Am Vert and
two firsts for street in the Vans World Amateur’s solidify
his contest record in both disciplines. Chad has been skating
for more than half his life, 14 years to be exact. A humble,
kind person who claims to hate no one, he is on the cusp of
his professional debut. He has already completed the loop that
many seasoned pro’s haven’t even attempted. But Chad’s
not one to boast or claim or let everyone know just how good
he really is. No, he let’s his skatin’ do the sprayin’.
After a five-year stint in Tahoe (where he co-designed the Truckee
Skatepark with Noah Salasnek) he has come back to his maternal
roots of San Clemente. As the new skate team manager for Lost
he has found a way to skate all day without working as a plumber
or a sushi chef-his previous means of living. But he still retains
the skills, so if your toilet is backed up or you need some
unagi for your next party then keep looking because Mr. Shetler
is well on his way to fulfill his true destiny: To broaden the
horizons of the flippers, the vert dogs and the pool sharks.
He is the complete package. Read on into the esoteric stabs

grounded in the game of pain, skateboarding. If you could only skate one thing for the rest of your life,
what would it be?
I don’t think I can pinpoint one thing to skate for the
rest of my life because that’s what skateboarding is about.
Just being able to skate anything at any time-being able to
pick up your skateboard and just go skate. If you could only skate with five people for the rest of
your life, who would they be?

Aaron Astorga, Danny Way and Alex Chalmers. Who is the best tri-board athlete?
Nathan Fletcher or Shaun Palmer. What makes a man, a man?
Being true to yourself and others. What makes a trick perfect?

When you’re in the air...that weightless, life stopping

Just growing up having somebody to do everything with. She surfs,
snowboards, skates...she does everything. It’s like havin’
