Why Beck Doesn't Skate...

   At the recent Yo Yo A Go Go show in Oly, WA I ran into 
beat-folk-rapper-singer Beck. I missed his show 'cause I had to go back to 
Portland, but since he's got skaters in his vid, I asked him if he 
skated. He was a nice guy so he gave me a few minutes of his time 
and here's what he said:
   "I had a car, but then the car broke down, so I had a bicycle but my 
bicycle got stolen. So somebody gave me a skateboard and it was 
good for gettin' around. It's almost a religion sort of so I can't really 
say I was a great skater. I wish I was, I was never that coordinated. 
The last skateboard I had I was livin' up in Washington and I was 
takin' the Greyhound back down to California and I had my clothes in 
one hand and I had enough room for my skateboard or my guitar. It 
was a hard choice. So I left the skate and that kinda' sealed my 
fate."
   Beck was real hungry, so I left him to grab some chow and work on 
his yo-yo moves as he was going to be in a yo-yo parade the next day.
