Modest Mouse: Lonesome Crowded West Documentary

On Monday, Pitchfork TV launched the entirety of the Modest Mouse documentary “The Lonesome Crowded West.” The film runs 45 minutes long and examines their “mall fucked” suburban post-grunge Seattle roots, the emergence of Indie-Rock, and the making of their breakthrough 1997 release The Lonesome Crowded West song by song. “The Lonesome Crowded West” includes interviews with band members, producers and friends along with footage of interviews with Elliot Smith and Doug Martsch of Built to Spill. Much like the album itself the documentary is authentic and brings new light to the most inventive band of the past decade that practically defines the Heckler generation.
