Our man Sal Masakela is a force to be reckoned with in the action sports landscape. His words touch virtually every event in action sports that is considered top teir, so it’s no surprise that the man has a documentary about his life about to drop.

Alekesam tells the story of how Sal’s father Hugh was exiled from his home coutry of South Africa due to apartheid yet found success in the music industry in America. Yet shortly after scoring a number one hit with the song “Grazin”, Hugh made the choice to leave America and his son to return to Africa in an attempt to reconnect with his homeland through his music and create awareness about the situation in South Africa.  

Almost 40 years later, Sal reflects on his relationship with his father, personal issues including race and addiction, and explores the story of a father exiled from his country, a son left without his father, and their mutual attempt to connect to the world, and each other through music.
