It's opened my eyes to a lot of different things in daily life that you probably wouldn't go through till you're older. You're cruising around the streets, skateboarding, dealing with people - a lot of people that don't like you and have like automatic prejudices towards you. To a certain extent it makes you jaded to a lot of other people's opinions. It reminds you that everybody thinks about things differently. You're skating around having a great time and these people think you're wrecking shit. It makes you deal with people better too, I think, because you meet all sorts of different types of people that skateboard. Some kid listens to punk rock and some kid listens to hip hop, and they'll go skate together and have a great time and chill. They might not necessarily have a common bond besides skateboarding. I know a lot of people that look and act differently. I met most of them through skateboarding. I feel like it helped me grow up quicker. Figure shit out. Maybe sometimes the hard way, but at least I figured it out.

What are you enjoying about skating right now?

Being able to get up, set up a board and go riding. Everything. The raw energy of it all, the way it makes me feel, the way it's always made me feel. It centers me.

I love to cook. It's something that I can find art in. It's fun to experiment around with because it always comes out different. 
 
You've had a couple injuries, yeah?

I broke three middle bones in my foot. Snapped them apart, all the way, skating a ramp. I was in a cast for 7 months, and got out for two months and broke my elbow. I was in a cast for three months after that. Had some chunks of metal, a whole bunch of screws, one of the screws kinda poked through on one side and made a giant bersitis boob.

Bersitis boob? 

It's called bersitis when all your fluids build up inside a spot from internal bruising and irritation. But it just looked like a big old boob - the same gummy texture, you know? Whenever I got lonely I could just squeeze my boob. 'Woo hoo!' (Laughing). Sometimes I'd draw a nipple on there.
