Slayer kicked off their U.S. tour last week in Oakland and they kicked it off in full force. The iconic Fox Theatre played host to the hordes of Bay Area metal fans and the intimate setting gave everyone a chance to get up close and feel the music as it shook the entire venue. Longtime touring mates Exodus opened up, followed by the legendary Suicidal Tendencies. Exodus’s Gary Holt pulled double duty to fill in for the late Jeff Hanneman, Slayer’s original guitar player. Big shoes to fill, but holt held his own as he and Slayer absolutely annihilated every song they played. Their set was filled with all the old classics and a couple of the new soon to be classics. Bassist and vocalist Tom Araya sounded better than every and Kerry King is still the hardest fucking guitar player out. Overall it was an insanely heavy show that is not to be missed. Do yourself a favor and see them if they play anywhere near your. Guaranteed to be well worth the ticket price. IT’S FUCKING SLAYER!
